for sixty minutes it was going to be dark
we couldn't use a light not even a spark
my dog was so confused he couldn't find his bark
i wanted to watch tv but we were walking to a park

dad led the way to that park somewhere
my sister and I were bored we really didn't care
then we looked at the stars as they lit up the air
there was the moon so small but with a crescent flair

we found beauty in the sky much to our dismay
we even found the park and mom let us play
it's getting late dad said calling it a day
but i was having fun and even wanted to stay

so to those like me that thought the idea was sour
we walked over two miles and couldn't even see a flower
we saw that we could have fun without electric power
turn off those lights and let's celebrate earth's hour
