Hatching Eagles
During my years of working on the river, seeing eagle's nest was a common occurrence. The birds nest along the river banks. Each time an eagle was spotted, we would break out the binoculars to gain a closer look. The birds didn't care, they were too busy hunting.
In Iowa, the Raptor Resource Project has place a live cam near an eagle's nest. The cam has taken great footage of two newly hatched eaglets. The story has been all over the news (NewsChannel5); but if you have not seen the video ... here is the youTube link.
Yosemite Lifesavers
While Yosemite was receiving a massive spring snow storm, a visitor to the Park was experiencing chest pains. Employees from the National Park, National Forest, state, counties, and probably some that I forgot to mention tended to the man as they tried to transport him. By using extraordinary means and effort they found a way through deep snow, downed trees, and downed wires to a waiting ambulance.
These folks were lifesavers. Oh, the man had triple by-pass heart surgery. Hope he has a speedy recovery!
