Healthy Counties
A study by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation issued County Health Rankings for all the counties in all 50 of the states!
"The County Health Rankings show us that where we live matters to our health. The health of a community depends on many different factors – ranging from individual health behaviors, education and jobs, to quality of health care, to the environment."
The work is comprehensive. You can check out your State and County or visit other States or Counties for comparison. The report provides information to State and County leaders on where their jurisdiction ranks and gives ideas of where they need to improve. The program does not just stop there, they go even further - giving ideas on how and where to make improvements. There are ideas for how everyone can help improve our community standards of living.
Walk with the Mayor, seriously
Don't forget the Walk 100 Miles with the Mayor Program. We are signed up and ready to go. Some folks are already logging miles. We are walking regularly; but are not planning on entering the data until the official start date (April 2). We don't want to be disqualified for an early start! Ha!
Seriously, the program is a good way to get started moving outdoors. We have a lot of good area maps and adventure guides on cloudhiking.com that will help motivate you.
Looking at the County Health Rankings (see above) it seem like we need to get out and walk, regularly!
